Shepherd, Lakes Station, Hurunui

Having caught some fish I settled down to paint this one when Kelvin Saddler, a shepherd at Lakes Station, came by on his horse. After a yarn and finishing the painting I returned home and painted him and his dogs from a photograph I took as he was leaving.

This Valley leads up to the Harper Saddle, a low pass to the Coast, and on down the other side into the Taramakau Valley.
