The Rakaia Valley from Snowden Station
Snowden Station holds the high ground on the true left of Rakaia Gorge. Clean, clear, cool, and as fresh as the open faced, clear eyed, even flock of perndales that roam the hills here. It affords a great light filled view up the Rakaia towards Mt Algidus Station and the Mathias Valley.
The large snow tussocks in the foreground cover an extensive area and give much needed shelter to ewes and their lambs in that cold wet southerly weather that usually accompanies their arrival.
